A Populix survey reveals that social media is the primary source of information for the public regarding the 2024 Regional Elections (Pilkada), with a 77% share.

This includes online news social media accounts (79%), content creator/influencer accounts (45%), local community news media accounts (41%), and political figure social media accounts (34%).

Furthermore, 55% of respondents obtained Pilkada information through conversations with family, friends, or colleagues.

Other sources included television (54%), online news media (49%), outdoor media such as billboards and posters (28%), print media (27%), and radio (8%).

One percent of respondents reported never receiving any information about the 2024 Pilkada.

Populix conducted this online survey from May 23-26, 2024, involving 962 respondents across Indonesia.

The majority of respondents were from Java (60%), followed by Sumatra (23%), Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua (6%), Kalimantan (5%), and Bali-Nusa Tenggara (5%).

Respondents were predominantly Generation Z (53%), Millennials (42%), and Generation X and Boomers (6%).
