The Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance relieved Rahmady Effendy Hutahaean from his post as Head of the Purwakarta Customs Office, effective May 9, 2024.
Director of Communication and Guidance on the Use of Customs Services, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto, stated that this decision was made following an internal investigation that revealed indications of a conflict of interest involving the official's family.
"Based on the results of the internal investigation, the official has been relieved of his duties to facilitate the further investigation process in accordance with applicable regulations," said Nirwala in a statement, as reported by *Katadata*, Monday (May 13, 2024).
Previously, Rahmady was reported to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) by Andreas, a lawyer from Eternity Global Law Firm, for alleged inconsistencies in his State Asset Wealth Report (LHKPN).
Andreas is the legal counsel for Wijanto Trisana, a businessman who previously conducted business with Rahmady. This allegation stems from a loan Rahmady gave Wijanto in 2017 for an export-import fertilizer business under PT Mitra Cipta Agro (MCA).
Wijanto received a loan of Rp7 billion from Rahmady, with the condition that Wijanto's wife would become the main commissioner and hold a 40% stake, or approximately Rp24 billion, of the company's total assets of Rp60 billion.
However, Wijanto questioned the origin of the funds, as Rahmady's LHKPN for 2022 reported total assets worth Rp6.39 billion.
According to that LHKPN, the largest component of the former Head of Customs' assets was other movable assets, amounting to Rp3.28 trillion.
The second largest component was property assets worth Rp900 billion. Rahmady is recorded as owning two plots of land and buildings in Surakarta and Semarang.
Rahmady also reported other assets totaling Rp703 million, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp645 million, and securities worth Rp520 billion.
In addition, he reported transportation assets worth Rp343 million, including two cars (a Toyota Hardtop Jeep and a Honda CRV) and a Honda K1H02N14LO motorcycle, all self-acquired.
The former Head of Purwakarta Customs Office, who held the position since April 2022, reported no debts.
